Spanish Arabian Horses

The journey of Glen Oak Arabians began long ago when the Arabian horse traveled across
the expansive desert sands of time, finding her way through centuries of civilization, flourishing
only by giving her sweat to man’s need for transportation, trade, farming, and the lust for war.
The Spanish Arabian, bred to carry a newly evolved warrior, moved quickly forward, covering
ground at a faster rate than the bulkier draft model, gaining advantage on the enemy and leaving
a legacy of beauty, elegance, and refinement.

Glen Oak Arabians began when friends at the AHANC show asked me, while found decorating, raking ground, and rearranging the stable area, what the name of my ranch would be.  I blurted out. “Ranchita de la Purisima”, named after my Reserve Grand Champion Half-Arab filly, La Purisima.  I had a horsy childhood; my mother rode Saddlebreds in Evanston, IL.  My mother trained me to start the babies, and ride.  Mounting me in a saddle seat saddle, she declared, “if you are going to learn to ride, you will learn to ride in this saddle.”  Today the method is known as “Close Contact”.  While in high school, I had a job training trotters at a neighbor’s racing facility.  When I moved to San Francisco, I continued honing my skills by riding in beautiful Golden Gate Park.  Living and working in the city, owning my own ranch was never a conscious thought until that moment at Rancho Murieta.  After many commuter miles, the additional 60 miles to the boarding facility to prepare for the next show, property was purchased in the fall of 2004.  Located in the beautiful California Sierra foothills, nestled in a cool glen, surrounded by old California Oaks, the ranch name evolved to Glen Oak Arabians at Ranchita de la Purisima.
